Woman Arrested after 2 People Struck by Car

The female was identified as Angela Yazzie and deputies described her as having a large laceration on her right hand. As the female was being taken into custody she stated “I hit him like the little (expletive) that he is.” Both subjects were too intoxicated to interview during the onset of the investigation.  The male pedestrian, 24-year old Farmington resident, was not injured in the incident and the female, 24-year old Bloomfield resident, was air lifted UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM where she is listed in critical condition.

From the San Juan Co. Sheriff's Office:

On December 28, 2016, at approximately 11:39 pm deputies from San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of County Road 4909 and County Road 4910 (Bloomfield) in reference to a motor vehicle-vs-two pedestrians’ accident.  During the investigation Deputies determined that the two pedestrians were intentional struck by the vehicle.

The vehicle was identified a Honda passenger car and the driver was identified as Angela Yazzie and the male passenger was described as living in the area.  The vehicle was located at #12 County Road 4910.  Deputies described seeing blood on the steering wheel and gear shift of the Honda as well as blood on the door handle of the residence.  Two subjects (one male and one female) were detained from within the residence. A 1 ½ year old child was also located in the residence. It was determined that the Honda was a stolen motor vehicle out of Albuquerque, NM.

Angelia Yazzie was booked into San Juan County Detention Center for;

  • 2- counts of Aggravated Battery (use of a deadly weapon)
  • Abuse of a child (1st offense – placed in a dangerous situation)
  • Receiving or transferring stolen motor vehicle (1st offense)

Detectives are still investigating the case.

    Officers canvassed the area for the suspect; however, investigators believe the individual left the area prior to police arrival. The Farmington Police Department is releasing a video of a person of interest. The video shows a male on a bicycle headed east on Navajo Street towards Lincoln Avenue. The Farmington Police Department urges anyone with information or video surveillance from the area to contact detectives at 505-599-1068.

    Reports indicated the child had been locked in a chicken coop for extended periods and exposed to extreme weather conditions. Detectives immediately responded, removed the child from the home, and gathered evidence corroborating the allegations.
