Rounds was born in Roswell and spent five years at the University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Center.  He is very excited to get back to New Mexico. “I’m thrilled to return to New Mexico to join San Juan Regional Medical Center as President and CEO,” Jason Rounds said. “I look forward to collaborating with caregivers and residents to make sure we do all we can for the betterment of our patients and our local communities.” His start date at San Juan Regional Medical Center is expected in early May.

San Juan Regional Medical Center has named Jason Rounds, MBA, FACHE, CHFP, as the hospital’s new president and chief executive officer. Rounds, a healthcare executive with over 30 years of executive level experience in not for profit and academic medical centers, will begin his new role as CEO at San Juan Regional Medical Center in early May.

Rounds is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP). He has a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Sciences from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and a Master of Business Administration from Centenary College in Shreveport.

He is currently the Chief Administrative Officer and Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Finance at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock but spent 14 years with CHRISTUS Health in a variety of executive roles including market president in Texarkana, Texas prior to joining the UAMS team. He has a notable track record of driving revenue growth, quality outcomes, and operational efficiencies in addition to physician and employee engagement. 

“Mr. Rounds has the impeccable background and demonstrated expertise we were looking for,” said Sam Gonzales, Board Chair. “His broad range of healthcare experiences will help us achieve our vision to deliver world class care.”

Rounds was born in Roswell and spent five years at the University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Center.  He is very excited to get back to New Mexico.

              His start date at San Juan Regional Medical Center is expected in early May. He replaces Jeff Bourgeois who left the medical center in 2022.
