Update: Suspect Wanted in Fatal Shooting

Police are actively searching for Lucero who may be in Farmington but is believed to be in the Albuquerque area and possibly headed to Mexico.   Although not a suspect, detectives are seeking an interview with Miguel (Mikey) Hernandez, 27, of Farmington who is believed to be with Lucero at this time.   Lucero also has an active federal probation violation warrant related to charges on methamphetamine trafficking and a felony warrant out of Bernalillo Metro Court for breaking and entering.

Update on August 2, 2018 from Farmington Police:

Farmington police have identified a suspect in the homicide that occurred early Wednesday morning and are also seeking a person of interest. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant yesterday for 41-year-old Pedro “Peter” Lucero of Albuquerque on charges of Murder in the First Degree (open charge, a 1st degree felony and capital offense), Shooting from a Motor Vehicle (resulting in great bodily harm, a 2nd degree Felony) and Possession of a firearm or Destructive Device by a Felon (a 4th degree felony).

 

Officers were dispatched around 12:58 a.m. Wednesday to the 1100 block of South Bowen in reference to shots fired. At approximately 1:01 a.m. San Juan Regional Medical Center security called dispatch to report a woman with a gunshot wound had been dropped off at the emergency room. The woman, later identified as 24-year-old Francine Delgado of Farmington, was shot in the lower back and succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Around 1:46 a.m. a second woman, identified as 28-year-old Rebecca Jacquez of Farmington, was dropped off at the emergency room with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her buttock. She was treated and discharged from the hospital.

 

Through investigation detectives learned Lucero fired multiple rounds at the back of an SUV occupied by multiple individuals including Delgado and Jacquez. Specific details surrounding the event are not being released at this time as this remains an ongoing investigation.

    Officers canvassed the area for the suspect; however, investigators believe the individual left the area prior to police arrival. The Farmington Police Department is releasing a video of a person of interest. The video shows a male on a bicycle headed east on Navajo Street towards Lincoln Avenue. The Farmington Police Department urges anyone with information or video surveillance from the area to contact detectives at 505-599-1068.
