Thanks to the power of social media and the law abiding citizens of San Juan County, 58 year-old Larry Dunsworth and his son, 30 year-old Baxter Dunsworth, both of Bloomfield, were arrested and charged with the following criminal offenses: Armed Robbery (2nd degree felony), Conspiracy to commit Armed Robbery (a 3 degree felony) and Larceny (under $250) a petty misdemeanor. Both men were booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on 03/26/2016 but have been released on bond.

From the San Juan County Sheriff's Office:

On 03/26/2016, the San Juan Communications Authority received a 911 phone call at approximately 1024 hours from a vendor at the Farmington Flea Market located at 7701 E. Main Street Farmington, NM. He advised dispatch that two males had threatened him and one of the males pulled a gun on him. The victim also said that both male individuals had knives on their hip and one of the males had a gun.

When deputies arrived, they learned an altercation took place between the vendor and an older male wearing a green hat and dark jacket when the older man walked around his table. The vendor asked the man to step back around the table to the other side but the man said no and continued around the table. The vendor turned to confront the man when the man told him, “Look behind you, I’ve got a friend”. At that point, the vendor turned his head and saw a younger man coming around the other side of the table with a knife in his hand. The younger male then attempted to stab the vendor in the left side with the knife. The vendor retrieved his firearm for protection and defended himself by pointing it at the younger male. This prompted the younger male to back away but only provoked the older male to display a gun in his hand and threaten the vendor with it by saying, “Don’t mess with us.”

The vendor showed deputies an empty knife box and stated he felt the older male was trying to distract him so that the younger male could take the knife that was sitting next to the box. Deputies also spoke to other vendors at the Flea Market who corroborated the victim’s account of the altercation.

Through this investigation one of the witnesses was able to take multiple photographs of the suspects and their vehicle while at the Farmington Flea Market prior to them leaving. The photographs were placed on the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page and shared throughout the department and the community. After receiving multiple tips, detectives were able to identify the two suspects and locate both men at a residence in Bloomfield.
