At San Juan Regional Medical Center, the health and safety of our community is our number one priority. With that in mind, we have taken the necessary step to restrict visitors beginning Thursday, March 19 as we work to protect our patients, staff and community during the COVID-19 National Emergency. Signs will be posted at the entrance of the hospital with this information.

This policy aims to protect visitors from exposure to COVID-19 by utilizing alternative mechanisms for patient contact.  Visitors are encouraged to use technology such as FaceTime and Skype to speak to their loved ones. They can also go to sanjuanregional.com and send an e-card from our website at https://www.sanjuanregional.com/egreeting/.

Exceptions to visitor restrictions may be made on a case-by-case basis, with special considerations made for minor patients, end-of-life situations, and patients lacking decisional capacity. That decision will be made by the bedside nurse, attending physician and management resource nurse. Any exceptions will be limited to one family member and security will be notified.

In addition to not visiting the hospital during COVID-19, there are other things you can do to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Stay home when you are sick.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
