FMS Student Tests Positive for COVID-19

The district was made aware of the positive test on August 20. The student had been in outdoor areas of a school campus during a district- and NMAA-sanctioned activity.

One Farmington Municipal Schools student tested positive for Covid-19.
The district was made aware of the positive test on August 20. The student had been in outdoor areas of a school campus during a district- and NMAA-sanctioned activity.

Any student or employee known to have been in contact with the student while on district property or during a district-sponsored event has been notified about their possible exposure. Those who were in socially-distant contact with the student are awaiting test-results. The district has also reported this positive case to the New Mexico Department of Health and OSHA, as required.


Farmington Municipal Schools District continues to follow screening protocols outlined by the New Mexico Department of Health, the New Mexico Public Education Department and the Center for Disease Control. This includes wearing masks when required, temperature screening and a short set of questions regarding travel and possible symptoms for anyone entering an FMS building or participating in activities or events.
