The emotional decision was finalized after reviewing current COVID-19 health concerns, New Mexico state regulations and CDC guidelines. Currently New Mexico is not allowing mass gatherings, and this is expected to continue for the foreseeable future even as an economic recovery plan is introduced. The safety of fans, volunteers, players and community members is, and will always be, our top priority.

From the Connie Mack World Series:
The Connie Mack World Series Executive Committee has met on multiple occasions in recent months to discuss and review the unprecedented events that have impacted our local community as well the nationwide baseball community. With the start date approaching, the committee had to make the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 AABC Connie Mack World Series baseball tournament held annually in Farmington, NM. Considering the unprecedented crisis, the halt of amateur baseball and the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, the CMWS Executive Committee decided canceling the tournament was unfortunately necessary, primarily to ensure the safety of all involved and to do our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the Four Corners region.
The CMWS would like to thank the City of Farmington, as well as our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, host families and fans that continue to make this one of the premier amateur baseball tournaments in the country.
This will be the first time since 1965 that there will not be a CMWS played in Farmington, NM. The CMWS and the City of Farmington will continue our year-round work and dedication to this world-class tournament, to make sure we come back stronger than ever in 2021!
